My Story

I've always been a storyteller at heart, growing up surrounded by stories. My dad, a pastor, and my mom, a former teacher and avid reader, nurtured my love for storytelling from an early age. From "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" and Matt Christopher sports books to the "Encyclopedia Brown" series, "The Chronicles of Narnia," "The Hobbit," "Harry Potter," and Joel Rosenberg's books, I found joy in stories of all kinds.

 

Stories come in many forms: books, movies, and even simple conversations. Recognizing that stories are all around us changes how we view the world.

 

After earning my degree in Political Science, with minors in Theater and Religious Studies, I shifted my focus to Christian ministry, concentrating on the local community of believers.

 

My journey has been diverse: camp counselor, youth ministry leader, pastor, participant in almost two dozen mission trips (both domestically and internationally), coach, football and basketball official, fast food worker, waiter, and substitute teacher. Each role brought me into contact with people and their unique stories.

 

Family plays a central role in my story. Growing up with parents who valued education, faith, and storytelling shaped who I am. My wife and I (and our two golden retrievers , Marley and Mowgli) live in Virginia where she continues to inspire and support me, reminding me of the importance of weaving our stories together with God's.

 

The challenge lies in helping people realize their stories matter and are intricately woven with God's story. When this connection is made, great things happen!
