From Confusion to Clarity: Spreading Hope Through Good News

While watching one of my favorite television shows recently, I came across an episode where one of the characters learned (no pun intended) that he was dyslexic.

In the build-up to that revelation, he was studying for an exam in mythology and he knew the content. However, when he received his test back his grade was not stellar. He had not failed but the grade did not reflect his grasp of the material.

This led to a candid conversation between the son and his parents about how he was tired of working so hard to get mediocre grades.

He knew that something wasn’t right, but he couldn’t figure out what it was. He was tired of not knowing what was wrong. He wasn’t stupid. But he was not excelling. Something had to give.

Ultimately, he and his parents went to a school counselor who confirmed the son was dyslexic. Now that he knew, he could get some help. The episode ends with him celebrating his recent test grade of a B+.

In Romans chapter 10, verse 14, it says, “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?

Here, Paul is reminding the Christians in Rome of the need to share the good news of Jesus because everyone needs the grace Jesus provides. But someone has to tell them.

The Bible is clear that God draws people to Himself, but He has commanded us to tell everyone we meet because we all need saving.

Romans describes how everyone is aware of God, even if they do not acknowledge it. No one is without excuse.

People throughout the world understand that there is something out there. Something bigger than them. People know something isn’t right, but they can’t figure out what it is or what to do about it.

They’re not stupid. They see a jumbled mess.

The good news that Jesus loves them, died on the cross, rose from the dead, and offers forgiveness and eternal life to those who love Him helps bring clarity.

People are tired of just getting by. Many of us think that our lives are what they are, and there is nothing we can do about it.

People need the good news. They need hope. They need a glimpse of order amid chaos.

Let us be the voice of hope sharing the good news of Jesus and helping people to see clearly.

Anyway, I was just thinking…
